2305: Fun while it lasted

Well, it was fun while it lasted.....

My L'il 2305 did a great job brush cutting some light field grass this past week. No issues and it was relaxing (Do not tell the wife...My story is it's hard work)

UNTIL.... I was finishing and getting ready to put the tractor under the shed. On my last swipe while cutting the rear PTO started to act strange. Like shutting off while the switch was in the on position :unknown:

So I lowered the RPM's and tried the switch a few times & it finally started. Back to work.. Finished the last swipe & went to put the 2305 under the shed. I turned off the PTO and now it will not turn OFF. So again, I tried the switch a few more times and the PTO shut finally shut off.

Now I was thinking that I may need to call Dr. Green (local JD service center) to have the PTO switch / system evaluated. I am not too well versed in electrical components. So with the PTO off, I backed the 2305 under the shed to disconnect the rotary cutter. Lowered the cutter onto some 2x6's and turned off the 2305. (at this point that was an unknown mistake) One of the 3pt lift arms was in a sight bind. so I was going to move the 3pt lift arms a little to get it out of the bind.

Got onto the 2305 & went to start it...IT WILL NOT START :nunu: It acts like a safety interlock is activated. When the ignition switch is turned to the on position the preheat will activate. But when the switch is turned to start position it will click and act like an interlock is activated (ie unit in gear, parking brake off, PTO engaged) So my guess that the PTO switch is worth looking at as the likely culprit. I think the 2305 had previous ignition switch problems. I did not know if the PTO switch is somehow related.

During the PTO switch episodes, there was no issues with the engine. It was running fine. No hiccups, smoke, or overheating...It was running fine.

So my next step is to call the JD service center to see: 1) can they pick the unit up on a roll back w/ winch and 2) Find out what switch is not working. Hopefully they can get the roll back to the unit...

Any other thoughts or experience with this type of issue?

I typically like to work on the equipment my self, but I am a little light on the electrical side of things. Could I remove the dash & try to disconnect the PTO switch to start the unit so I can haul it to the dealer myself? Or is the PTO switch tied into the ignition & is needed to start the unit (ie linked for interlock)

I do like the 2305 & it did a great job but this issue is frustrating.
