Keeping the sway links tight with a full ballast box seems important for controllability and even safety. The supplied locking rinks are a real PITA to remove and replace, especially with winter gloves on. I like the bungee idea that was posted here, but would prefer something more robust.
An extra-long hairpin clip seems like an obvious improvement. But I haven't been able to find them in tractor stores or on line, under names like hairpin clip, clevis pin clip, hitch pin clip. I did find one thread where someone asked a similar question, but the responses weren't very positive.
I could buy some rod stock and make crude pins myself, or find a machinist with a proper bending jig and tough pin stock. Before doing that, I wonder if anyone here might know of a source. Or perhaps one of the better-equipped members might like to make up a few dozen and sell me a pair?
Other ideas for easier un/locking of turnbuckles?
Thanks!
