My nephew and his wife got a dog a couple of weeks ago, a pit bull. He seem to get along pretty good with their 11 month old daughter....until last night. The dog began to growl at little Abby and lunged at her, taking a big bite out of her left cheek. The dog tried again to lunge when my nephew drugged the dog off her and took him outside.
My little niece had to be rushed to Children's Hospital in St. Louis. Surgery had to be done by a plastic surgeon. What is disturbing is that the hospital called the Washington County Sheriff's department to go get the dog to have it tested for rabies. The sheriff's department refused saying they didn't have time. So Abby has to have rabies shots now.
She's doing fine and is on her way home now as I typed this.
