Front chains on a 4100

The front spindles on my 1998 4100 MCUT are P/N M807520. These spindles are replaced by P/N LVU800989...the same spindles used on 2320/2520 MCUTs. A front wheel spacer P/N LVU12475 is offered for use with the LVU800989 spindle. After consulting with a couple JD dealers we all convinced ourselves that the LVU12475 spacer would work with 4100's M807520 spindles/wheels as well. So I took the plunge and bought (2) LVU12475 spacers and (9) LVU13274 M14x50 bolts. (One bolt, with the head cut off, serves as a line up pin for installation. Thanks to whoever posted this tip on the forum...it worked great!) Fit up was perfect and the installation smooth. Put new twisted link ladder chains with 2-link spacing on the 23x8.50x12 R3 tires...then put the rig to work pushing back and moving snow piles the plow service leaves at our cabin in our absence. In years past, to back out of the piles, I'd usually have to engage the rear differential lock. Not once in the 6-7 hours I spent moving the piles this weekend did I engage the rear diff lock. What a difference chaining the fronts makes! Though I'm working on packed snow over gravel I'm being cautious to not abuse the drive line. No quick forward/reverse shuttling and I operate at reduced power at about 1500-1600 rpm. Works great.
