Well this is about as much fun to do as a heart attack. You know how you always run out of propane in the middle of your steaK? Well it's damn near guaranteed that the auger belt on your snowblower will go when you are in the middle of the biggest snow of the year! And what a pleasure it is to replace it. There are two retention bars at the bottom of the large pulley to keep the belt on the pully, a tensioner and two more retention bars on the top pulley. But the hardest part, after you figure out how to drop the bottom retention bars, is getting the belt in between the auger pulley wheel and the drivebelt pulley wheel where there is maybe 3/8" to work with. And for the love of pete (my dad used to always say that, wow) don't let the retention bars touch the belt or you will have to replace it again! Anyway, did all that yesterday and finally finished cleaning up from last weeks storm. BTW I recommend www.vbelt4less.com to order belts for a good price, jusst need to track down the parts numbers from the appropriate site first.
And I remember a discussion earlier about keeping snow/ice off the metal, a friend recommended the windshield de-icer that comes in a can with a scraper built in? I tried it and it works pretty good.
