I am closing in on 62, and last Aug I retired after 47 yrs in Kalif. and escaped to the Cumberland Plateau region of Tn. Halfway betw Nashville and Knoxville, right off I-40. In Ca. we had a "massive" 3/4 acre spread. Actually it was considered large for the City of LA, and it was legal horse property. When I bought that place, now being a bona fide farmer, I bought a JD 750 4-WD 8-speed a mo later. In the first 27 yrs, it racked up 490 hrs. Since moving here, 130 hrs more. It has been a flawless worker. Implements: JD 67 FEL w/60" bucket, Gearmore 60" roto-tiller; 60" box blade; Danhauser PH digger w/6" & 12" auger, and a hiller-bedder w/16" discs.
Now, we live on 10 ac, 5 fenced and 5 of woods bordering. There is a small log cabin 2650', 40x30 barn, 20x14 workshop, 2 story storage shed, and a 24x30 garage. I need to build a 'real' workshop as I would like to get a bandsaw mill. I have a large whak of logs as we have already downed about 100 Oaks and Maples. Life is good here. Went from probably the most taxed state to perhaps the lowest.
