Delivery Valve PIP 12LV141 & 12LV141A. Effects 2720 and other tractors

I was at my dealer a bit ago and while talking about my tractor, he looked up my s/n and found an outstanding PIP (product improvement program) for it. It's a set of replacement fuel delivery valves found just inside the injector pump under the fuel injection lines. He ordered the kit and let me do the install. I figured I would share with you what this entails on my 2720. On other tractors the procedure will be similar. There was no reason given for the need for replacement, my dealer didn't know either.

NOTE - This is not for the average tractor owner to do themselves. You have to open up the fuel injection system that has some incredibly small parts that are very intolerable of any dirt. The surrounding area must be cleaned thoroughly and this must be done inside, not outside or in a dirty environment. If your tractor needs this PIP completed, I highly recommend you let your dealer's service department complete this.

So first off I had to remove the air cleaner assembly. Here's what I started with, nice and dusty.

Next the air filter bracket and hood prop bracket needs to come off to get access to the fuel injection lines. Notice the radiator support bracket also needs to come off. You also need to support the hood by another means at this point.

Now the injection lines come off. You must clean everything well before fully removing them. Paint chips will develop from removing the lines. If any dirt or paint gets into the injection system, it can easily block the tiny tiny little holes the fuel is sprayed out of the injector. Not to mention any wear that could happen. My camera's flash makes the paint look dirty because of the reflection in some pics.

Here are the delivery valve holders right on top of the injector pump.

Now we remove the holders, and the copper sealing washers at their base inside the pump.

Here's the meat and potatoes of the PIP. This is the delivery valve taken out of the holder and laid out. The pencil is for size reference.

Then after thoroughly cleaning the holders of all debris and paint chips, assemble them, reinstall the new copper gaskets in the pump, and carefully install the holders into the pump. This can be very tricky as the delivery valve wants to come out of the holder. If it does, it may come apart. If that happens, you may be screwed if you lose any parts. You must make sure it doesn't come apart during assembly. The holders get torqued down to 33 ft lbs. I used quite a few cotton swabs to clean the injector pump delivery valve bore holders. I started the engine after reinstalling the holders and lines at this point. I wanted to check for leaks. Make sure to remove the rag in the intake before starting. A few seconds of cranking and the Yanmar came back to life without any issues.

Then reassemble from there. We're done.
