Hello Everyone,

I joined the site some time ago, and read the forums from time to time. Last week I was given a JD 116 lawnmower. It is my first John Deere and I am begining to restore it. I been reading and taking in as much as I can. I have started working on the deck already. I have removed it from the mower, and stripped it down to the bare deck. This morning I had the deck sand stripped. I found I have some cracks that need to be welded and there is a large hole that needs patched, and it appears that it is missing one of the angle brackets. I am going to fabricate one and weld it on where I make the patch. Once all the fabrication work and patch work is complete I am having the deck recoated in a John Deere Yellow Polyester Powder. I am going to strip the entire tractor down and have all the metal parts powder coated as I go. I have a few questions that I have not been able to find answers to. Does anyone know where I can get part numbers for all the decals? Was there an option for headlights on this model tractor? I need to find a replacement hood as mine is cracked and completely broke in two peices, but mine appears to have a large rectangler hole in the front of the hood, and there is a switch that I believe is a light switch on the console. All of the hoods I have found online appear to be solid in the area I have a hole in.

I have been trying to decode the serial number as well. I believe I have an 83 model, but I don't know for sure. My Serial is M00116D237666.

Here is a picture of what I am starting with. This picture shows the deck removed already. It is a 46" deck that came with the tractor.

Thanks everyone,

Victor
