4115 Spindle, Oil Leak, Bearings

Hi,

I'm working on a 4115 CUT that the wheel fell off of. Apparently it had been having issues for a while, including MFWD didn't work, and lots of wheel play.

After getting it apart, the spindle was worn and the snap ring had fallen off, bearings were all shot, seals were damaged, the little oil that was left was just sludge, and most of the MFWD components were fractured and worn in ways I didn't expect to find.

Anyways, the parts have been ordered, but I didn't notice a vent on the axle, anywhere. I'm assuming without a vent, the oil would just blow through the seals again, right?

I've got a few questions I hope someone can help out with:

1.) Oil weight/capacity? I saw 3.6L of 80W-90 online, but my dealer indicated he 'thinks it should be a low viscosity oil.'

2.) Process to add oil: Fill it at the axle fill hole, and it trickles into the wheel bearing area?

3.) Should the wheel bearings be packed with grease, or is the gear oil enough for them?

4.) Normally I'd figure to fill through #7 in the photo, the pipe plug on the case. What's the purpose of this plug?

If someone can offer a bit of guidance, I'd appreciate it! It's a friend's tractor, so I won't have the luxury of listening and observing too much after the repair to make sure it's running smoothly.
