I need in the near future to do another hydraulic fluid change out on my 4720.
I always try to change as much of the fluid in the attachments as I can as well but of course it is a challenge to do that completely. My chipper and my three way hydraulic blade are pretty simple to get a near complete drain on, but the BH is a bit more of a challenge due to the weight of the segments and that gravity is not helping but hindering. The back-blade is easy as most movements are in the horizontal plane and can be pulled to the extremes once the hose is loosened at the cylinder to expel the old fluid. Not true of the BH.
Without an over head crane to lift the BH "arms" to compress the cylinders to expel the old fluid that remains does anyone have a good trick to make it easier. I would guess that most folks never worry about it but I don't see any reason to contaminate my new fluid any sooner than necessary so I go to the extra trouble.
