We have gone through a number of Deere machines to get to what we have right now. Started with a GT235 then an X500 then got the 2320 and hslo have had a 108, LT180 and a 265 plus the 216H that I am putting together still. Long story short my wife does all the mowing and although she loves the 2320 with her bad back it has on occassion reduced her to tears after mowing almost 5 acres. The other machines were ok but either were not big enough for other chores. So back in feb of this year I found a 2002 X485 with 1200 hrs for 3 grand in North Dakota on Machinefinder. Needless to say we were off a couple hours later to bring it home. I knew it would need some TLC for the price but after seeing it and running it around was confident that it would be an excellent mower as that is all it will ever do. Once it warmed up so that I could give it a go over I have had to replace the water pump which took less than 2 hours start to finish, put a new brake actuator rod from the pedal to the transaxle and a new front tire. I also gave it new antifreeze and a new filter and low viscosity hyguard in the transaxle as they did the engine oil at the dealer. The brakes didn't work after installing the actuator rod so rater than doing the adjustment first, I pulled the transaxle as I really wanted to make sure all the brake disks and plates were OK. So add about 4 hours for the transaxle R&R along with the inspection of the brake unit and adjustment and I now have an amazing mowing machine. I have never driven on a GT that rides like these X4x5 or X5X5 machines, it rides almost as good as any of my ATV's ever have and that LC Kawasaki is just an amazing engine. I still need to change the plugs and set the valves then clean up the 62c mower deck and spray it with JD Graphite but I think my wife has finally got her keeper mower machine. Here a re a couple pics when it was at the dealership.
