GT275 Parking Brake Lever Return

I recently replaced the instrument panel on my GT275. When I put it all back together, the parking brake would not release, meaning by depressing the pedal, the brake lever would not disengage, I'd have to manually pull it up. Looking in the manual, I see a spring on the lever but it's not clear how it is hooked up. I must have lost it during disassembly so I purchased a new one but can't figure out where it goes exactly.
