i recently picked up a nice used x495 that was traded to us with 800hrs., for 3800.00. it is a decent tractor with some minor service and cosmetic issues. once i got it to my shop, and torn down for cleaning and repair, i found some interesting issues. the hood mounts are completely worn out at the pivot area. the dash area where the hood rest is nearly worn through as well. all four of the motor mounts are shot. also the tilt steering assembly and the upper steering shaft at the bushing are very worn. i am assuming all of this is due to the extra shaking and vibration of the diesel? also think there is one or more of the glow plugs that are dead. i have an x485 with nearly 3000hrs. on it, and it shows no wear like this at all. i am wondering if this tractor did alot of idleing, as it seems fairly smoothe above 1/3 throttle. this makes me wonder how well the x-series tractors are suited for a diesel engine. my old 430's do not show any of this wear or behavior.
