deck belt smoking and wearing out

I have a John Deere L118. I just had the deck rebuilt and put a new belt on. I only mowed for about 15 minutes when I noticed the belt was very hot and smoking. Could this be because one if the pulleys are
sticking? Or would it be the alignment. Not sure what the problem is at this point.
