Our Deck over trailer, has a pressed in Zerk on the Spring pack rockers.
Getting things prepped for a bunch of hauling coming up, greasing things, lug torque etc. and sure enough, one zerk dosn't want to play nice.
I'm not sure, but I'm thinking one of the crew did me a favor and grabbed the Red grease gun(Lithium) and greased her up last season, creating an incompatibility issue with the Polyurea normally used.
Got out the MAPP gas torch, and heated it up. No dice.
Drove the tractor up on the trailer thinking it needed to rotate a bit. Nope.
Heated it up again. Nope.
Dug out the Hydraulic grease fitting cleaner(Whack plunger) and managed to soak the boots, as well as fling Kroil all over the dog. Nope, still clogged.
Next logical step is to back the thing into the shop, get things properly jacked up and tensioned, and pull(Beat with Thors hammer)the equalizer pin out, and fight a replacement back in.
4-5 hours of dinking around, cussing and scraped knuckles...for a clogged Zerk.
What kind of a sick weirdo came up with pressed in Zerks anyhow?:nunu:
I'm a stubborn bastard(Ask the wife:lol:) and can't stand to let a dadgum little steel nipple win. It's just wrong.
It has occurred to me that there might be other methods, creative mechanical solutions, and strange but effective offerings to the Zerk gods, I have overlooked.
Whats your method? Got a favorite series of profanitys that are mostly effective?
Phone number of an old school Hoodoo woman, that has a proper hex removal for Zerk fittings?
I have to order another pin, so experimentation to failure is an option while I wait.
Thanks for any ideas!
