Hello,
I have a 1987 316 with 1354 hours on it. It starts right up, and runs great, until I engage the PTO to run either the snow blower or the mower deck. As soon as I engage the PTO, it instantly begins running rough. If I disengage the PTO, it runs great again, only to go bad as soon as I re-engage the PTO. Also, usually after it's been running for awhile and then shut off for one reason or another, the PTO won't engage at all for 10-15 minutes.
I've seen postings with similar problems, but nothing that looked to be quite the same.
The safety switch under the seat has been bi-passed. I checked the connection, and the wires are clean and well connected.
I'm very much a novice when it comes to working on my own tractor, but I want to learn. It seems to me like this would be a problem with the PTO switch or something, but I have no idea what else is involved in making this run, so I'm hoping for some guidance on where to start.
Thanks!
Larry
