Working up to splitting....

but before I do... thought I'd ask the collective for things to watch out for, tips or tricks, etc...

1987 john deere 750, MFWD, no power steering, model 70 loader... 410 hours on the clock, assumed correct, but who really knows. Purchased early January...

Not a damn thing wrong with the clutch  lol, things were great in the cold weather. As soon as the weather warmed up (and the hydro fluid thinned) I started having difficulty shifting from a standing neutral into gear without grinding. I believe the pilot bushing is dragging, and now that the hydro fluid starts at 70 degrees and warms from there I believe there is less drag on the transmission internals than when it was 35 degrees out (when things were fine). My work around at this point is to idle down, accept the minor grindage first shift, and then use neutral on the hi/lo further down the driveline, leaving the tranny in gear. Less than ideal.

There is a small access on the side of the housing, going to make one last attempt to get some brake cleaner and a little PB or similar threaded through the clutch plate, but I'm not optimistic.

I'll obviously be replacing clutch plate, pressure plate, throw out bearing in addition to the pilot bushing as long as I'm in there... and the task is not daunting, so much... I've rebuilt engines, replaced trannies, clutches and transfers, etc. in jeeps, trucks and cars before... just looking for any insights from those who have done it that might make my first time go a little smoother than it otherwise might  I do have the tech manual TM1242 which lays it out pretty good, and obviously the added fun of the loader brackets and plumbing-

Anything else I need, other than a sense of humor?
