I have been borrowing a big box store Husqvara sting trimmer from a friend. Our friendship has ended and I'm now in the market for a string trimmer. I will most likely get a Stihl or Echo but I want to get some opinions before I purchase one.
The majority of the use will be trimming around the lawn. But I also have a few hillsides that are quite thick with wild grasses and weeds that I cut several times a year. I may also at some point like to try a blade to cut thicker brush.
Looking at the Echo line I see that most are strait shaft and only a couple have a steel drive shaft all the rest are wire cable. Is it worth the premium to get one with a steel shaft? I'm eyeing the SRM-266s
I have a Stihl farm boss chain saw and would like to stay in the family but I hear that the Echo is a better sting trimmer. Let me know what Stihl I should be looking at.
Thanks,
Mike
