Recycled Oil or Hydro fluid

I just changed the hydro oil in my 2305, used JD Hi Guard, which I brought from local dealer, went in today and dropped off used oil and asked if they took it. One guy had to check (Ok he's new), the second guy wanted to charge me for taking it in...Said they had to pay to recycle oil, So that is my question, at todays prices, are dealers charged for recycled oil or do they get it picked up for free or make some $$ from the recycler? The owner who was sitting there said something to the second guy and told me don't worry we will take it at no charge... He's been a good dealer for me over the years.

Any ideas to question?
