So I've got a 20(ish) year old Deere LX178 that I use at my shop for mowing and stuff. The machine has started making a noise that is a bit troubling. Its perfectly fine when the parking brake is set or the brake pedal is depressed. But once I let off the brake pedal it starts making a bit of a squealing / grinding sound (maybe a bad bearing or something?). Otherwise it works fine, it still mows and everything and the hydro doesn't feel weak at all or anything like that.
I'm wondering how the motor connects to the hydro trans on this unit and if there is a belt or something? Maybe I've got a bad bearing in the mix in there? Any ideas would be greatly appreciated!!
