So today as I am mowing with my 1050 (manual steering) and doing a lot of low speed reversing to get the brush hog under low branches, etc, all of a sudden I hear sort of a cracking sound in the steering column of my 1982 1050. After that, I notice that I now have so much steering wheel free play that I can turn it several times before the wheels start to turn. There is supposedly an adjustment screw close to the throttle lever but I could not get it to turn to save my life. Tried a screwdriver aided with pliers to no avail and then tried to get a socket in there but the 14mm was the biggest that would go in the hole but it wasn't big enough to go around the nut under the screw. Anyone ever had this issue and have any suggestions? Thanks!
