MMM deck uneven only when held by height control

I'm seeing an issue that I don't think I've seen here before. When I am controlling the height with the 3pt (mechanical lift) I have a nicely adjusted and level mower deck. I can control it to any height from snug to the frame on down to the ground. When I set the height knob to lock the deck off and then lower the deck to that height I see the left side of the deck stop exactly when the bar from the lift axle hits the expected stop... If I continue to lower the 3pt to fully load the deck onto the stop then the right side will drop another 1.5" before it stops going down. In fact, the left side will actually come up just a bit due to the tilt. The left side stops "crisply", but the right side slows into the final (lower) resting place and has much more bounce if you push (hard) up/down on it.

I watched the system go up/down both loaded and unloaded and can't find much play in the lift axle. Everything looks about right. The confusing thing to me is that it runs perfectly off the lift mechanism, so I feel that generally things must be setup properly. I think it must have something to do with the fact that the height control stop mechanism is on the left side of the tractor and therefor on the far left of the lift control axle. I'm guessing that's why I see that side stopped so cleanly. I just can't figure what is wrong to allow the other side so much slop.

Any ideas? Anyone seen this?
