I currently have an 03 2210 I bought used last year with a 210 loader, 62" MMM and then I also bought a Frontier SB1154 rear mounted blower new to go with it. I've had it for just over a year and it's been a great tractor but its just really too small. I knew when I bought it it wasn't big enough but at the time I needed a tractor ASAP for mowing and snow removal and that was all my dealer had that would fit the bill.
I have an outdoor wood stove and using the tractor to move and push logs etc is risky business so I need a tractor with more weight. I also have a small flail mower the neighbor lets me use to mow my back 3 acres that is really too big for the 2210 to run. I'd also like to get a tractor that's big enough to run a rotary cutter on our hunting land of about 800 acres. Not all of it is mowed of course but we maintain trails etc and much of it only gets done once or twice a year and so it ends up being 2-3 feet high when we go to mow. I do not need a cab as much as that would be nice.
So now that you know what I have and what I'm looking to do......I think I want to be around at least 30-35 PTO HP and have been keeping an eye out for anything in the 3720 through 4520 size. I feel like these would be big enough yet small enough to navigate in my garage and through trails in the woods. I need a loader of course and I think I'll be able to keep my blower. So that leaves me with the mower problem. My current tractor also serves as a lawn mower so I need to figure out what to do about that. the way I see it I have two choices: buy a used residential zero turn (thinking like a Z445) or buy a rear mounted finish mower to go with a bigger tractor. I'm not sure what the pro's and cons are to each.
I just discovered my dealer has an 06 4120 with 750 hours for $21,900. The price seems to be in line with other comparable tractors but I would need to buy a rotary cutter and either a rear finish mower or a used zero turn. I owe about $9500 on my 2210. I don't know what they're worth so I don't know if the dealer would give me at least what I owe on trade.
What are everybody's thoughts? Is there anything I have missed? anything I should be thinking about that I'm not?
