Who's ready for Fall and Winter already? Is your Deere ready?

Our 3320 Deere has kept us busy. It helped to plant a good size garden that we have been using to can dozens of jars of salsa, tomato soup, pepper jelly, and pasta sauce like crazy this Fall. To stay warm we've cut and split around 10 cords and counting of quaking aspen (poplar), oak, birch, and maple in the past month or two.

The forks work great to carry the wood as well as cut it at waist level to save on your back and saw chain. This year I made some wood holders on pallets so I can stack and move the wood around easier. I made a 4 way wedge to split the wood much faster and I upgraded to a 22GMP Chief PTO pump. This past week I have been working on a poplar tree that recently fell over that was close to 80 - 100 feet tall. The trunk measures 24" across. The vertical option on my splitter has come in handy over the years and this week for sure. No need to lift these heavy chunks of wood. Just roll them over to the splitter and split them on the ground. For those that have wondered why use a vertical splitter this is why.
