Chassis Grounding Lug To Battery

Doing some maintenance, and I noticed my chassis grounding lug that ties into the negative battery terminal lead is a bit rusted out.
I was going to clean it up with some baking soda and a wire brush.

If I disconnect the negative battery cable do I need to do anything else before I remove the lug? Or is that sufficient? As I was concerned of shorts/damaging the electrical.
