Frustrated with hydraulic oil level in 2720

I started the weekend with the 2720 with the hydraulic oil at the top of the sight glass and right at the full mark on the dip stick (result of a previous sight glass filling error). I had to swap hydraulic hoses and fill a new cylinder on an implement over the weekend which resulted in a loss of fluid that took it below the sight glass.

No biggie. I have plenty of oil. I made up my mind that THIS time I am going to achieve that darn bubble in the sight glass!!! I started with the tractor having sit overnight on a perfectly level surface in the garage, so the oil level should be stabilized. Loader down, 3PH down. The level is below the sight glass so I start SLOWLY adding oil a cup or so at a time until it just appears in the sightglass. Then I wait several minutes to ensure the level was stabilized. I slowly added another half-cup or so... all the while waiting several minutes between adds. I eventually end up with the sight glass about 3/4 full. I wait a good 20-mins to ensure it is stabilized. Yep - good to go.

So I run the tractor and move a couple large piles of debris. When I park the tractor I noticed right away that the sight glass is totally filled. That's odd I thought, usually it is low when first parked and then works its way back up to normal. Anyway, I let the tractor sit overnight AGAIN and I check it this afternoon.

The sight glass is still totally full. The dumb thing about the sight glass is once it is at the top you have no idea how full it is. So I go to the old standby - the non-existent DIP STICK!

The darn oil level must be 3/8" above the FULL mark on the stick - up past the flat part!!!!! What the ????

I have never owned a piece of equipment in my life that was so difficult to add oil to establish the proper oil level.

At this point I will have to try to drain some out.

On my next try I guess I will try waiting a full day between each cup of oil that I add and see how that goes. :flag_of_truce:
