The 55 was running well, but had a hiccup the other day. It wouldnt start. It has the vertical shaft tecumseh 5 hp in it. I rebuilt the carb and replaced ignition components about 5 starts/ 3 months ago and it ran great until the last time I tried starting it. Now replaced keyway again and it starts but wont run over a couple of seconds. I readjusted points gap and rebuilt the carb again to no success. Last night gave it a shot in the throat of juice and it popped off for about 2 seconds then died quickly. not sure what to do next. I think I will do a compression test to make sure that the carb is getting pressure from the engine. Carb needs to have that to let fuel into the needle. If that says its ok, which I dont know why it wouldnt be since it ran well the last few runnings, I am not sure what road to travel down next to diagnose whats wrong with it. Its got me very confused since it ran so good those 5 times it was running. Odd little tecumseh bird! Any good suggestions are really appreciated.
