Anyone have a problem with the "C" clip on the port side lift arm shaft popping off?
I found mine the other day after having trouble getting the mower deck on and off. I heard a pop and found the "C" clip lying on the garage floor. Then noticed that the lift arms for the deck were down to include the Port side rear lift arm was hanging low. Further inspection revealed that the clip poped off allowing the bolt to shear holding the lift arm assembly to the lift arm. They both mount on the shaft that goes across the starboard rear lift arm. Was able to get everything back on and clip back in place to include new bolt. However when I was using the landscape rake I noticed that it was sagging on one side. Looked at the lift arm and noticed the clip was gone again. This time it's somewhere out back in the yard. Used some bailing wire to replace "C" clip and hold lift arm in place so I could get everything put up.
Looks like a pretty cheesy design. All other types of engineering that I have seen have the end of the shaft drilled and tapped with a keeper washer or thrust washer of some time and a bolt holding everything on. Now I need to get a new clip and see if it will hold. If not, well JD here I come. Only 32 hours on the darn thing.
