Slow augers on 47" snowblower

Hi everyone,

I have a 2012 1026r with about 76 hours on it. I also have a used 47" snowblower (with all new mounting assemblies) for the tractor.

The blower had been working fine. Last night I went to clear about 5" of light, fluffy snow, and the blower was just barely pushing snow out of the chute. I had the wife sit on the tractor and start the blower while I checked the operation.

Now, I've never actually seen the augers spin before, but to me they seemed to be moving fairly slowly. The tractor didn't seem to bog down much when the PTO was engaged, so I'm not sure what the issue could possibly be. Both sides were moving at the same rate, and the shear bolts were both intact. I have since disengaged the PTO and the blower moves freely. I'm also able to easily move the blower by spinning the driveshaft by hand.

The only changes have been:

1. I changed the tranny fluid and filter and cleaned the screens about two weeks ago.
2. I greased the entire tractor, including the driveshaft and snowblower.

I'm fairly certain I've run the snowblower at least once since the service, but I could be mistaken.

I had a 44" blower on my x500, and it seemed to spin the augers much faster (assuming I'm remembering correctly).

One last point - the x500 with the 44" blower never bogged down, but the 1026r with the 47" will bog down in heavy snow.

Anyone have any thoughts?

Also - is there a way to lubricate the gearbox in this blower? Is it oil filled? I can't find any info...
