950 Issue #2 Three Point Hitch (TPH) dropping- won't hold up with rotary cutter

New to me 950, a bunch less than what I was sold....but it's my problem(s) now unfortunately.

Bought a Big Bee Titan 60 rotary cutter for taking care of the vegetation.....may be more than I need.....

Cutter came shipped with tractor in "way up" position, so hooked a come-a-long to the rafters and slowly winched it up to take off pressure, removed the Rube Goldberg means that the sellers hooked it to my draw bar, and lowered it down carefully. Got it all connected to the TPH OK but upon lifting it up, the whole affair leaks down.....won't hold up position. If I mess with the control, I can get it to stay up...but the pump appears to be howling just a little bit, more like a subdued growling.

I did get the control lever for the "drop rate" loosened and adjusted properly! Found that in the operations manual! IT was stuck pretty good but managed to get it loose thankfully without busting anything!!! So now she lowers nice and slow....

....but unless I can keep the mower up in the air, I cannot do any cutting!

This unit has a FEL on it too and that stays fine. I'm thinking something in the TPH control unit....

So my questions begin,

0) With a heavy unit as this do I need to keep my RPM's up to (unknown amount as the Hour meter is bad also....different post!) some speed to over come the weight of the cutter unit?

1) is this a DIY job?

2) Are seal "kits" available from JD?

3) Instructions in a manual, and if so, which book?

Thanks a heap for help with my "big green turd"!

Steve
