Hi,
I have a late model 318, I started having starter problems, turn the key and "click", that was it. I checked the usual suspects, battery charged, cables clean and tight. Didn't help. I went to the local JD dealer and they suggested a relay kit. So I took off the hood and grill> Cleaned out all the gunk and wiped down the starter. all was going fine till the part about the "purple wires". there aren't any and there isn't a terminal on the starter. I double checked, jacked the tractor up even looked underneath. I pulled the skirt down on the left side and check there, no purple wires.
I cleaned the cable off good, put back on the starter, turned the key fired right up. the battery light and the oil light were the brightest they have ever been (kinda weird). I haven't had a problem yet.
Is it possible that as this was a late model 318 that they corrected the issue?
if not-what to do, I don't want to have this come up again.
Any help appreciate.
