Im getting ready to change the five gallons or so of Hydraulic oil in my 855 tractor. I've always used Deers specified low-vis oil for this because I did not want to develop what could be major issues by using the improper off brand oil. Having said that, and after seeing that I can have a fairly nice savings by using one of the off brands available from places like Tractor Supply or Northern Tool, Im wondering if they are safe to use.
Some of these oils state make & model numbers for application. Others just make a very broad generic statement like "Safe for all makes & models specifying Low Viscosity hydraulic oil". Has anyone had any experience with these off brand aftermarket oils. I really don't need to save $20 bucks now and spend a couple of thousand later on repairs because I burned out on non JD oil. Thanks for the opinions & advice.:usa
