I have a New Idea sickle bar mower model 30A and the lift bar mechanism does not lift the bar. The shaft from the gear box will not rotate and the activation lever is secured to its shaft and operates. I am in the process of opening the gear box to see what the problem might be but thought better to ask does any one know what might be the problem and what the best solution might be for the fix? I removed the set screw holding the lift pivot to the output shaft and tried to remove the lever with a puller however the lever will not budge more than 3/16 off the shaft. I beleive that the burr from the set screw is preventing the lever from being removed. Any suggestions on removing the lever? I thought maybe running a drill the diameter of the set screw about 1/16 into the shaft to remove the burr before removing the lever. If this does not work would I be able to remove the gear box cover with the shaft still in the cover?
