GT262 Starting Problem

I am new to this Forum but not new to John Deere's. I have a 1994 GT262 that will start and run fine except it has an intermittent starting problem.
Occasionally it will only click when attempting to start, this happens when it is cold, hot, etc. Totally random. Some times it will start after several attempts, other times it is more difficult and takes 10-20 attempts. It also starts fine about 75% of the time. Everything is correct regarding safety switches, mower not engaged, transmission in neutral, etc.

Any ideas for troubleshooting are greatly appreciated.
