Just a quick question about error code ecu 103.08. It's a turbo speed issue and I was wondering what the fix is and if it is terribly complicated/costly? It's on a 2008 ivt 7930 with 6k hrs
Any info appreciated.

safety product improvement program

Just received a certified mailing from my dealer concerning my 2014 X738 Regarding a safety product improvement with the mower lift linkage. Doesn't give any more information except that it is very important to have this taken care of.. Anyone else get one of these? I am wondering if this is an upgrade you pay for or a real legitimate safety issue paid for by JD? This notice is very vague..

I will call tomorrow to see what this is all about and I hope they don't give me this 4 hour trucking fee thing as they have in the past.. This time of year is not cool to be without your machine! They have two mobile technicians but always tell me they need to bring it in. I haven't had any issues with my mower lift linkage.. :dunno: Jeff

Thank you Brian

I think in a few months I will get the side tilt link.
Again Thank you

used tractor purchase for mowing about 2 acres - Deere x300 vs Craftsman GT6000??

$

I have done plenty of research so far on multiple forums and other sites. I need a riding mower that could potentially take light duty implements down the road, but most likely will only see mowing about 1 - 2 acres of yard. From most of my reading I have concluded that I don't really want most Lowes/Home Depot machines. I was looking at a few older Deere 212's, but they lacked the tight turning radius and some of the creature comforts of the newer models. With a $1k budget for a used machine and searching CL for many machines (including Simplicity and other brands as well), I arrived at either a 2006 Deere x300 with 535 hrs on the ticker. One thing that makes me nervous about this is that (although it was purchase from a Deere dealer) it still has the K46 transmission which I have not read great things about, but most of the issues seem to be with working it too hard or long or steep grades. Of course it has the Kawasaki motor and a 42" Edge deck with mulching kit. She is asking $1,200. The other machine is a 2013 Craftsman GT6000 with only 120 hrs. It has a G7 hydro which from what I hear is a solid tranny, however with an albeit powerful 26 hp engine, it is a Kohler Courage which I have not heard great things about. Everyone says takes "courage" to buy one, and the older Kohler Command are far superior. Any comments or suggestions? I lean towards the Deere as I have all Deere "stuff", including a nice 4x4 510c TLB for stumps and heavy duty work. Decisions decisions.........

Just finished this last Saturday. Very smooth install just as everyone else has stated here. Excellent system and looking forward to using it this winter. Posting up some pictures of the finished product. Let me know if you see anything I missed or could use some adjusting.
Thanks,
JD

In the above picture you can see the new "experimental" locking keys in place of the pins for securing the blade mounting bracket. Very slick and work nice.

Just need some snow to put it to the test. I think I am going to like it. The forks have already come in handy moving brush, pallets. Million and one other uses that come to mind...

Thanks Chris for the great product/s. My Dad had no idea it was not an OEM JD setup.

Pool sized hole with 1025R & 260 Backhoe?

The wife and I have been discussing putting a pool in. No, I did not get the 260 with my recent 1025R purchase. However, I'm thinking if the 260 can dig a pool sized hole, I may have just found a good reason to get it!
:bigthumb:

Anyway, I'd like to hear of any projects done with the backhoe that may be equal to a pool dig - I didn't find any pool digs searching the forum. Any lessons learned would be greatly appreciated.

112 variator bushing availability

Hi all. Newbe here. I have a 1971 112. At one time you could buy the bushing for the shive in the variator assembly that moved. Now the parts diagram shows shive and bushing as 1 part number for over $150. Does anyone know if the bushing is available possibly aftermarket or from a dealer that sells old parts. Also does anyone have access to an old parts manual that might have the part number of the bushing. From my experience the bushing seems to wear more than the shaft it rides on. Thanks

Thought about hitting with spray nine or simple green then a light blast with garden hose

Tiny leak and rust at rear tire valve stem

$

Just noticed this moisture in the rusted area around valve stem on rear tire. Hadn't really focused on it being moist until I dried it up today. This is a new used tractor (2 months ago) and I think the liquid is calcium chloride in tire for more weight. Not quite sure how to procede and am hesitant to remove collar nut on valve to see what is under. Should I clean up rusted area (about 2 sq inches) and treat? Should I do nothing? Could I used silicone around valve to try to stop leak?

Any ideas? I'm sure this is relatively common.

Thanks in advance for any ideas.

Rigatoni Lasagna

Sometimes, I deviate from the traditional way, and this is my version of Lasagna using Rigatoni pasta vs: Lasagna strips.
a. 2 pounds of fresh ground round, cooked down in my cast iron skillet, drain grease from meat and return meat to skillet.
b. 1 large can of Manwich sloppy-joe sauce, poured onto and mixed into the meat, stir to mix it up good.
c. 1 pound of Rigatoni pasta, cooked, rinsed with hot water to wash off the residual starch, set aside to cool down.
d. 1 small box of chopped spinach, cooked and water drained.
e. 1 pound of Manicotti cheese.
f. 1/2 of a small bag of Mozzerella cheese to top it off before putting it in the oven at 325° .
Layer 1/2 of the Rigatoni in the bottom of a greased baking dish
Spoon out the meat mixed with Manwich sauce, use only 1/2 of it
Spoon out the Manicotti cheese on top of the sauce, again, using just 1/2 of it
Repeat the layers of Rigatoni, Manicotti cheese, chopped spinach, meat and sauce
Top off with the 1/2 of the small bag of Mozzerella cheese and put in oven for 30 minutes.
Time to eat, and enjoy some good Red Wine with the meal. :bigthumb:

PTO question from an old school guy

Good afternoon, and thank you all for the great information you share here. I have a question on the 3 and 4 series PTO switch, the yellow one that you pull up on.

Was borrowing a 3series to bush hog, and pulling that switch caused the whole tractor and bush hog to shudder as it seemed to slam it into place.

So the question for you fine folks is this: What if you have an implement that has to be "feathered in", such as a baler with a big flywheel on it?

300CX Loader?

It made it home, even tho the salesperson couldn't be around this week. She was nice enough to get the shop personnel to deliver the tractor and most of the implements (some still on order). The 790 looked big beside it but I'm sure we'll enjoy putting it to work.

Pics to follow....gotta remove the backhoe and install the 3ph, Imatch and new implements. :yahoo:
