Spent the morning doing the 50 hour service on the 2720. The sun was shining under the tractor and the oil looked clear and clean as it drained out of the main drain plug. The transmission filter was a bit tight but I had no trouble removing it. It had 4 magnets in the transmission filter but only 2 magnets in the suction screen. The suction screen contained only minimal shavings.
I suspected my suction screen cover was leaking a bit so I had a new O-ring ready to install. It was a bear getting it to stay in the groove as it was a bit thinner than the original. I'll know soon enough if I still have a leak.
It only took 4 gallons of new fluid to bring it right to the top of the dip stick. I should have held back a quart or so as I have no bubble at the top of the sight glass. I added the JD red dye back in to make viewing the oil level and leaks easier. The red color looks identical to when the tractor was delivered.
I greased all 8 zerks on the tractor and the 12 on the loader. The innermost zerk under the left floor board was a tight fit as it almost touches one of the hard lines.
Oddly, the only zerk that gave me some trouble was the front axle pivot point. It took about 1/2 pump from the grease gun and then refused to take anymore. I think the grease gun hose would have exploded had I continued to force the handle.
All in all it went very well. It took longer than expected but I was taking my time and double checking everything as I went. I had the benefit of reading the many great postings on this site ahead of time concerning the 50 hour service which removed a lot of the mystery.
